The
ROSEBUD competition and festival was conceived by Natasha
Reatig in 1990 to promote the rich and diverse independent
film and video community in Washington DC, Maryland, and
Virginia. It was Natasha's goal to recognize and honor the
innovative, experimental, unusual, and deeply personal in
creative film and video making, and to create a showcase
for emerging film and video artists in our region. For nine
years Natasha nurtured ROSEBUD, and watched it develop into
one of the premiere festivals in our area.
When
Arlington Independent Media took over the stewardship of
ROSEBUD in 2000, it was decided that Natasha's invaluable
contribution to our local creative community must be commemorated.
Hence was born the "Reatig Award for Oustanding Service
and Contribution to the DC, Maryland and Virginia Film and
Video Community."
*ROSEBUD Co-Founders included: Jeff Consiglio, Rosie Dempsey, Brian Tate, Alan Rubin, Linda Burchill, Kathy Johnson, Stacy Surla, Tracy Pilzer, Will Cosby, Kay Shaw, Minu Tahmassebi, Zalman Fishman, Jeff Krulik
