And
the ROSEBUD Awards went to...
The winners of the 2005 ROSEBUD Film & Video Festival
Competition were announced on Sunday, April 17th at
a gala awards ceremony held at the beautiful Clarendon
Ballroom. Many were in attendance at this year's celebration
of independent film and video.
Now in its 15th year, the ROSEBUD Festival
seeks to honor the innovative, experimental, unusual
and deeply personal in regional film and video making.
Through our annual competition, public screenings
and cable television showcases, ROSEBUD nominees and
winners are given many new opportunities for professional
exposure. Open only to DC, Maryland and Virginia film
and video makers, the ROSEBUD Festival has become
a premiere showcase for emerging artists in our area.
The 2005 competition was open to all works first
released between January 1st, 2003 and January 23rd
, 2005. An independent panel of judges viewed all
entries and selected 20 nominees from which five winners, including the Best of Show,
were chosen. All nominated works were screened at
the two-day ROSEBUD Nominee Showcase at
the Rosslyn Spectrum Theater. If you missed the showcase,
you still have a chance to see these exceptional films
along with interviews with the artists who created
them - look for the "Reel Job" series on Arlington Independent Media.
Congratulations to all the nominees and winners and
special thanks to the many businesses and volunteers
who made this year's festival a great success.
